Friday, November 4, 2005 The competition to crack the Language of Atlantis is now open to all readers of Cayman Net News, both at home and abroad. Local artist Foots has presented Net News with the ten Rules of Atlantis written for the first time on paper. Foots has devised his new language, written with Atlantian letters of the alphabet, and has offered a $1,000 reward to crack the code. The aim is to have fun and to raise funds for young athletes on Cayman Brac (for more details see The Bracker and Little Caymanian 26 October edition). All proceeds from the competition will go towards the Sports Association of the Sister Islands Athletic Fund. Previously, the only version of the Rules was carved on columns that will be sunk with the rest of this underwater sculpture off the north coast of Cayman Brac. However, to broaden the scope of the competition, Foots has asked Net News to print the Rules in The Bracker, which will also be posted on the Internet. He will continue to give one clue to the code every week. There are twenty-six letters and there will be twenty-six clues, he said. This week, The Bracker has the third clue: “Your next clue is like the first and second. If you look right at all three, you will see, for the answer lies right in front of your eyes.”This follows the second clue: “Your next clue lies just before your eyes, like a reflection of yourself, if you look and see; the answer you seek will come to be.”The first clue was: “As a master mold maker, I look at everything upside down. You will find the answer to your first clue within the Sentinel.”Each week, The Bracker will be printing a new clue, which will later be posted on the Lost City of Atlantis website,
www.diveatlantis.com, together with the rules of the competition and past clues. The rules of the competition are as follows:Each entry must include 1)Your solution to the puzzle typed or clearly written on a piece of paper, 2) Your name, address, phone number and email address (if you have one), and c) A check or money order in the amount of CI$5.00 (US$6.25) made out to “Sports Association of the Sister Islands.” Mail your entry to: Atlantis Contest, PO Box 33 West End, Cayman Brac, Cayman Islands, BWI.The winning entry must match the writings on the sculpture known as the Rules of Atlantis exactly. You may enter as many times as you like.Entries must be postmarked by 30 April, 2006.
